Yes, I am breaking a cardinal-rule in business and branding…
The saying goes like this, “There are two rules in success. 1: Never give away everything you know….” Well, I’m going to break the rule, and give you the 2nd. ‘Everything I know.’
I’m going to give you some easy tools you can use to start creating content today. Tools that can help boost productivity, give you some fresh inspiration, and improve efficiency. This can range from Instagram post, blog headers, twitter banners etc…
Everyday I create an Instagram post in the morning, and one in the evening. The reason I post in the morning and the evening, is simply because I work an 8-5. I probably should be posting more often, but due to restrictions that’s the best I can do. Plus I do put a good amount of thought into what I’m posting.
Understand Your Focus
You need to understand what you are promoting. Some people just post a lot of random stuff, have little engagement, and are really wasting an amazing opportunity. This is a part of understanding your brand, who YOU are. YOU are a brand after all. Whether you work an 8-5 for someone, or work for yourself, YOU are a brand. So what do you want to promote?
Once you have what you want to promote, there a couple of tools that can help you.
You suggest you will want to use at least 10 hashtags. Make sure they’re relevant to your content, and as you are putting them, you’ll see how much they’ve been used to judge popularity of the tag. This will help you use more effective tags, giving more chances of exposure.
For Original Content
Canva.com is a great program that can help you create some beautiful visual graphics. You do not have to invest in professional graphic design software to create some good looking visuals anymore. This program is a little buggy, but has an application you can use to create graphics straight from your phone.
- Simply to use
- Mobile application
- Lot’s of templates
- A lot of typefaces to choose from
- Sometimes its glitches when trying to align certain graphical items.
- The app crashes if you use too many elements.
(Like lines, boxes, arrows etc…)
- If you do graphic design already, you will find some various annoyances like: Not being able to adjust kerning (the space between the letters), items not lining up correctly sometimes, etc…
Repost an IG Image You Like
So you see a post on Instagram that you really like, it sparks some inspiration and you wish you could share it on your Instagram. Well, the great news that you can! There’s an application called “REPOST.”
This is an amazing tool that I use a lot! I tend to find post’s that inspire me, and I share them on my Instagram using this program. It will end up putting a little icon in the corner of the picture with the username of the original person who posted it. If that really bothers you, you can always pay for the application and it will remove that icon. It doesn’t take up much space, and it’s good to give credit to whomever originally posted the content.
I have learned several things on marketing from listening and watching Gary Vaynerchuck, one thing I’ve learned about #Hashtags on Instagram is this: “Keep calm and use more #Hashtags. Instagram might be the single best platform for reaching Millennials.”
I use an application called Smarthash, which stores several hashtags that I’ve found to best fit my branding. You simply just press a button that says “Copy All” or “Split test copy” and it copies the hashtags and you paste them into the description.
It makes doing hashtags a lot more efficient, because you now no longer have to type them out one by one.
Canva can be a great tool for creating twitter banners, and images for a post. You can also utilize smarthash to help makeplacing hashtags easier. With only 140 characters to work with, you don’t have the ability to use a lot of hashtags. The key is to use #Hashtags that fit the content.
This is a program allows you to schedule out your tweets, as well as Facebook posts. It’s a great way to get content shared while you are going through your day, and cannot just post every so often. The free version allows you to set up to 10 post at a time. With the paid version you can set up 100 scheduled times to drop content. It is a web and mobile based platform. Makes it easy to schedule whenever, and where ever.
It will also go ahead and shorten your URL’s, which is nice when you have a very long url and only 140 characters.
Example: https://grantcardone.com/products/the-closers-survival-guide-book?rfsn=575627.aa773&utm_source=refersion&utm_medium=influencers&utm_campaign=575627.aa773 to http://buff.ly/2pQOibT , plus it will pull the picture from the link. So if there’s a main picture on the article, or product, it will pull the image into the program and display. Saves having to load a picture manually. It doesn’t pull the image the first time, every time. You sometimes have to cancel, and paste the link again.
This program also saves a history of your buffers, and gives some analytic data on them, like “most liked,” and “most clicked.”
If you are looking for a place to get some incredible engagement, beBee is the place to be. It offers blogging, live streaming, and regular posts similar to Facebook. The best way to describe beBee is a cross between Facebook and LinkedIn. It has all of the popular features for content creating, professional business sense, and AMAZING engagement. Everyone on there is great about commenting, sharing, and actually reading or viewing your material.
My best suggestion, is to just hop on and start producing some honey!
When you sign up for beBee, make sure to follow me! I’ll follow you back! https://www.bebee.com/bee/lance-smith
Everything that I share on my website, gets shared on beBee too. Same with Instagram and Twitter, when I post something Instagram, I have it shared to Twitter. This is really important to get your message across to different platforms, and getting a wider audience.
Hootsuite, and GoKittr are some alternative programs that I like as well. You just have to find one that works best for you, if you choose to use one at all. They both give you a lot of value, and save time, you’ll just need to check them out and see which of those three work best for you.
The Biggest Secret!
Shhhh!!! Don’t tell anyone what I’m about to tell you! Acutally… TELL EVERYONE!!! In fact this part is all about ENGAGEMENT!!! Yes, on social media sites you need to be ENGAGED with your audience. It doesn’t matter if you have 1, or 1,000,000 followers. Talk to them, reply to them, tag them, comment, post, share retweet, direct message. ALL OF IT!!!!
Gary Vaynerchuck has a great saying, 1>0 . Meaning 1 person is better than 0 people following you. 1 comment is better than 0 comments. That means that 1 ONE!!!! Person cared enough to take the time to look at your content, comment, like, or anything else, and you should be stoked. You could have 0. Reply back to those people, thank them, check out their material and comment/retweet/like.
It’s that simple really. Just having gratitude that even a singular person cares about your material. Engage with your audience as much as you can, because without them, you have nothing.
I hope this information helps you in some way! If you have any other little tips and tricks, let me know, we can share all of this with the community and help each other out!
Thank you for taking the time to read this! I really appreciate that!
I may not have given away everything, so stay tuned for possibly a “part 2”.
