How To Stay Motivated – Part 1 & 2

Staying motivated is tough. This requires daily actions, persistence, and focus.

Exercise

If you’re not exercising in the morning already, I highly advise doing so. You can walk, run, cycle, hike, lift weights, yoga, or whatever you prefer. Just do some exercise in the morning. Wake up at least an hour earlier normal, and do a short work out.

How does working out benefit you?

  • Increases blood flow and metabolism
  • Increases mental & physical energy
  • Creates Consistency.
  • Builds self-discipline

There are a lot of things outside of our control. Our mind & body are the two things we can control. Start the day in control of your life. Master your mind and body, and you can take control of your life and your success.

Consistency is key
Doing something every day build self-discipline that will carry over to other things in your life. When you start doing something consistently, like working out, you will begin to create consistency elsewhere. This could be consistency in calling on customer’s, doing daily sales training, monitoring your financial report daily, etc.

The Challenge
Wake up 2 hours earlier than you normal do, and do some sort of workout. Do this at least 3 days out of the week starting out, and add more days. I guarantee you will feel more energized, and feel like you already accomplished something that day!

Invest in Yourself

The greatest first investments you can make, are not stocks, bonds, 401k’s, mutual funds or any of that. It’s the investments you make in yourself. This is the one investment that has daily positive ROI.

  • Read books
  • Find a Mentor
  • Get personal training
  • Go to conferences
  • Network with like minded people

I train on Cardone University everyday. This is the #1 sales training platform in the world. I have looked at several other training platforms before I invested in this. A lot of sales trainers want to train you on how to mirror your customer using NLP (Neuro-linguistic). Essentially what this is, is psychologically tricking your customer to say yes by mimicking what they do and say. This form of sales to me is very shady. I’m sure it can be very effective, but I’m a fan of taking the straight honest route. This is what Grant Cardone has developed, an honest way of sales. A very effective one at that.

If you’re looking for sales training, this is the one you should invest in if you want to see continual results, and do honest sales. Cardone Univeristy

Books
There’s so much value in reading books. You get to read the successes and failures of an individual in the past 20 years, compressed in 200 pages. You learn what works and what didn’t work so you don’t make the same mistakes.

Some of my favorite books I’ve read on sales, business, and finance so far are:

The 10X Rule
Sell or Be Sold
If You’re Not First You’re Last
Be Obsessed or Be Average
Rich Dad Poor Dad
The Business of the 21st Century
Crush It
Ask Gary Vee

Utterly Seductive Proposal

Each of these are fantastic books which I highly encouraging reading or listening to.

Mentor
Having a mentor can be great to keep focus, and have someone in person to talk to. When looking for a mentor, always look up. What I mean is you need to look for someone who is where you want to be. Seems pretty obvious I know, but so many people fail at that.

Once you outgrow that mentor, find someone else who is further along to where you want to be next. Always be looking up.

Also, just keep in mind a couple of things.

This person is probably going to be very busy, so be mindful of their time. They may not be able to meet up as often as you would like, keep in mind that one day you’ll be that busy making your dreams and goals come true.

Your mentor does not have to be someone you know personally. Make Grant Cardone, Gary Vaynerchuck, Zig Ziglar, Robert Kiyosaki, or whomever you want as your mentor. He put’s out so much information on sales, business, investing, finances, and materials that you can use all of this knowledge to get you along. You do not need him holding your hand along the way.

Personal Training
This can fall into having a mentor. A person can give you personal coaching, and training to improve your skills. Or maybe you’re more of a person who likes something that you can study every day.

That’s where something like CardoneU comes in. Grant Cardone becomes your personal mentor, you get sales training, and motivation every single day. The best part is that it is accessible on your phone, tablet, or computer. I suggest if you go looking for a training program for this field, you get CardoneU, but if you’re interested in another field of study, find something mobile.

Mobility is key. I can pull up CarodneU wherever I am and tackle any sales objections I may have. If your field of interest is marketing, find some programs that you can access anywhere, anytime, to solve your problems.

Training every day is key when it comes to success. It’s like learning to ride a bike. You have to keep at it consistently in order to become better at it. Even when you learn to ride it, you have to keep riding to stay conditioned, and improve your skill.

Networking/Conference
I want to combine these two together, because by going to conferences to train up, you will get the chance to network with like minded individuals.

This is probably the biggest and greatest lesson here. If you surround yourself with quitters, complainers, naysayers, people who want to slow you down or hold you back, you will not be able to rise up and move forward like you want.

Surrounding yourself with like minded individuals who lift you up, push you up, help you up, those are the friends you want. They will keep you accountable, motivated, and on track. Find these people through conference, online, or around your town. Get out of your comfort zone and get connected with new people. Find new friends who can help you reach your goals.
